케틀드럼과 카리아티드(여상기둥)
마스터 또는 리드 드럼이었던 이 케틀 모양의 드럼은 가나의 남부 지역 아칸 부족들이 좋아하던 전통 음악 밴드의 핵심 악기였습니다. 이 같은 드럼은 가족을 모티프로 한 것으로 마스터 드럼은 어머니, 즉 전통의 모계 친족의 중요성을 강조한 것으로 보입니다. 두 명의 여성이 드럼을 잡고 있는 모습은 이 악기가 여성성을 견지하고 있음을 알 수 있는 부분입니다. 아이를 양육하는 어머니는 여성의 다산성과 아칸의 문화에서 모계 라인의 중요성을 암시하고 있습니다. 책을 쓰고 있는 여성은 교육에 몰두하고 있는 아칸을 나타냅니다. 이 모티프는 마스터 드럼의 가족적, 사회적, 정치적 도상 연구의 전형적인 예가 되고 있습니다.
