科勒瓦人

新几内亚东南的科勒瓦人曾经有割取敌人首级的习俗,他们最重要的圣物就是“阿吉巴”(头骨钩),即一块用来展示人头骨的扁平透雕木,头骨就挂在底部的凸起上。据说每块“阿吉巴”都代表一位曾在梦中向雕刻工人现身的神灵。科勒瓦人曾居住在大型公共房屋中,每个宗族或小宗族都有单独的隔间,其中有神龛,里面放有至少一件“阿吉巴”及其他圣物。“阿吉巴”管理宗族成员猎取到的越来越多的首级,它象征着这个宗族的活力和力量。
