麦田与丝柏

在圣雷米精神病院度过的那一年中，梵高画了一系列作品，专为捕捉普罗旺斯乡间那点缀着丝柏和橄榄树的景色特点。1889年 7 月2 日，梵高在写给弟弟提奥的信中描绘了这一系列中最新的一幅作品，即他从六月开始的一幅画：“我有一幅布面油画，上面有丝柏、一些麦穗、罂粟和蓝天。蓝天就像一块多色的英格兰格子花呢，使用了厚厚的颜料，好像蒙蒂切利的画那样。”梵高认为这幅洒满阳光的风景是他描绘夏季的油画中“最优秀”的作品之一，他以同样的构图又画了三幅：第一幅是苇管笔素描（现藏于阿姆斯特丹梵高博物馆），后两幅都是油画，作于当年秋季（伦敦国家美术馆；私人收藏）。
