威斯敏斯特宫

1905 至1906年，安德烈·德朗在艺术商安布鲁瓦·沃拉尔的建议下去了伦敦，他为沃拉尔画了好些以伦敦为背景的作品，其中就包括这幅画。根据德朗后来的回忆，这些油画的灵感是克劳德·莫奈在几年前画的伦敦风景画，那些作品“给巴黎留下了深刻印象。”德朗运用拖长的短笔触和明亮大胆的色彩反映出新印象派画家保罗·西涅克和亨利·埃德蒙·克罗斯的影响，同时还有马蒂斯的影响，他和德朗曾一同在法国南部度过1905年的夏天。
