This printed paper wrapper protected five steel engravings issued to members of the American Art Union in 1850–51 [see MMA 1993.1083(2–6)]. Text on the back of the wrapper advertizes a second small set planned for the succeeding year, which would not be published until 1853, the year that the organization was forced to dissolve.
