Papyrus Fragment

Not on view

This Arabic papyrus, showing only ten lines, is perhaps a fragment of letter. Recorded only on one side, the text is executed in a very crude script and stiff hand. Usually letters and legal documents are written in curvilinear, cursive and abbreviated script. Perhaps this piece comes from an earlier period than the other papyri fragment held in the museum’s Islamic collection.
