Dream

Chen Haiyan Chinese

Not on view

This print comes from a series of twelve prints that illustrate and narrate the artist’s dreams. Chen Haiyan records her dreams daily and reproduces them in a sketchy, sometimes naive style. This work tells her dream of fishing in a river.

Chen, a leading printmaker in China, developed an innovative and individualist approach when artistic censorship was loosened in the 1980s. This work is representative of her experimentation.
