Glassmaker and chemist Apsley Pellatt owned Falcon Glass Works, a pre-eminent glass manufactory in Southwark, London, known for its quality and artistry. He investigated and became an authority on the principles of both ancient and modern glass making, traveling widely and visiting glassworks in Venice, Bohemia, Belgium, and France.
