At the 1873 Vienna Exposition, Moore admired ceramics in “Japanese” style from the Royal Porcelain Works. He likely visited the works, where he would have observed the workrooms—including the education and training of the workers—and the process by which ceramics were manufactured and glazed. One of many books on ceramics in his library, this guidebook was written for visitors to the plant.
