Bracelet Element with Miniature Portrait of Louis XIV
Jean Petitot Swiss
Not on view
This diamond-framed medallion, part of a wrist ornament, features a miniature portrait of Louis XIV painted by an artist celebrated as the Raphael of enamelers. The marquis de Dangeau mentioned a similar piece of jewelry in a diary entry of October 8, 1706: "The King has made a present of his portrait, enriched with diamonds, to the wife of the Russian ambassador."
