Game board in book form

On View Gallery Watson Library

This box is inlaid with three game boards. There is no front or back to the box. Its exterior, on one side, has a checker/chess board, and on the other side, a playing board for a game with many names, including mühle and Nine Men’s Morris. The opened box laid flat becomes a backgammon board. Note that the board’s edges are inlaid with contrasting woods, in imitation of pages.
