ダマスカス・ルーム

ダマスカス・ルームは、オスマン帝国時代(1516–1918年)のシリアの上流階級の家にあった一部屋です。イスラム文化圏の慣習として、この種の部屋は一家の主人と、主人の客の接待専用に使われました。控えの間には、多彩な大理石が敷かれた床に囲まれた噴水がありました。窓のよろい戸と戸棚の扉を含む、豪華に塗られた木の壁板は、浮き彫りの図案、アラビア語の詩文、建築模様などで装飾されています。壁龕には書籍やその他の品々が配置されました。漆喰の壁に取り付けられた上部のステンドグラスの窓からは色とりどりの光が差し込み、下の格子付きの窓からは外の新鮮な空気が入るようになっていました。
