アメンホテプ3世のスフィンクス

鮮やかな青いファイアンス製のこの小さな スフィンクスには、アメンホテプ3世の名が刻まれており、この支配者を描いた多くの肖像に見られる特徴的な様式化された表情で描かれています。人間の手で供え物用の器を持っているスフィンクスの変形は、早くも古王国時代に登場しました。新王国時代には、供え物を持つ小さな像を捧げるファラオが多く描かれました。
