Прерывая путешествие развлекательного или государственного значения, чтобы разбить роскошный лагерь, императоры династии Мугхалов располагались в шатрах, обшитых красивыми тканями. Эта ткань, элемент интерьера шатровых городков, свидетельствует об их красочной обстановке. Тиснение золотом, цветочный и растительный орнамент украшают узкую кайму, а основная, более широкая кайма орнаментирована маками, чередующимися с миниатюрными деревьями или стилизованными листьями. Бархатная основа акцентирована блестящим листовым золотом, которое втирали поверх узора, предварительно смазанного клейким раствором. В период правления шаха Джахана (1627–1658 гг.), когда был изготовлен этот шатер, «цветочный мотив» пользовался популярностью в различных направлениях искусства, от архитектуры до текстильного дела.
