须弥山坛城

这件精心织就的坛城（宇宙结构图）挂毯表现出随着密宗的传入而一同进入中国的印度图像。坛城中央是传说中的须弥山，用上顶莲花的倒金字塔形来表示；莲花是佛教中清净的象征。中国传统中象征太阳（三足鸟）和月亮（兔子）的符号出现在山脚处。坛城四面的微缩风景代表印度神话中的四大洲，但其画风却遵循中国“青绿”山水画的风格。浓密的花饰边框受到西藏图像的影响，特别是那些与元朝宫廷有密切联系的寺院。
