اعتمد الأمراء المماليك شارات مُميزة مرتبطة في الغالب بوظائفهم الرسمية في البلاط، وكانت تُزيّن التحف الفنية والبنايات التي يأمرون بصنعها لحسابهم. ويُشير في هذه الحال القوسان المتجوران على خلفية درع أحمر أنّ عرّاب هذا المصباح كان من كبار الموظفين "بندقدار" (صاحب القوس) في حاشية البلاط المملوكي. ويذكر النص المكتوب أنّ المصباح صُنّع لضريح أيدكين العلائي الذي توفّي في القاهرة سنة 1285م.
