Trade cards from the "Topps Red/ Blue Backs" series (R414-5), issued in 1951 by Topps Gum Company. The series was released in two sets of 52 cards each. The card versos of the first set, called the "Red Backs," display a baseball graphic in red ink. The card versos of the second set, the "Blue Backs," repeats the same graphic printed in blue ink. This is an example of a "Red Back" card verso. The example is provided because Burdick affixed each card in the series to the original album page and so we cannot see the individual card versos.
