Maiden Lane, New York, No. 1- No. 169
These ten sheets once formed an accordian style guide to businesses found on Maiden Lane, a street that runs west to east street in Lower Manhattan. The Howard Hotel at no. 1, on the corner of Broadway, had opened in 1840. At no. 2 are Stout & Hyatt, card engravers, listed at that address in contemporary directories in 1850-51. By 1854 Jacob Hyatt had taken over that address, indicating that this guide must have been published before that date. The names and addresses of many other companies endi at no. 169 Maiden Lane, on the corner of South Street at the East River.
