Not on view

Bound supplement of nine plates illustrating the Théâtre de l'Odéon, built by architects Marie-Joseph Peyre and Charles De Wailly between 1779 and 1782. The plates correspond with a supplement added to the section on theatres in Diderot's Encyclopedie around 1785, but appear to show some of the illustrations in reverse. It is unclear to which publication this supplement belongs. The supplement consists of a map and three floorplans of the theater, followed by five fold-out plates showing sections and elevations of the exterior of the building. The last plate shows the facade of the theater from the street, it is worked out more elaborately than the rest of the plates and may originally have been produced for a different purpose.
