Unidentified Coat of Arms
Anonymous, French, 17th century French
Not on view
Large thesis print with a coat of arms in a cartouche and flanked by the figures of Justice and Minerva. The arms are accompanied by the motto "POTIVS MORI QUAM FOEDARI" (Rather to die than to be dishonored). Both this motto and the inclusion of an ermine motif in the crest suggest a link with Brittany, but the exact origins are not clear. The print is entitled "DVOM".
