The portfolio contains 10 lithographs created by Dosamantes around 1955. Apart from the first plate, each print is accompanied by a cover sheet that is numbered, some carry titles and an evocative or poetic text relating to the print (the cover sheet to the first print is missing from this set). The lithographs were printed by José Sánchez who worked at the Taller de Gráfica Popular and the texts printed by Impresora America. The Introduction by Enrique Fernández Gual (in Spanish and English) describes aspects of the project describing Dosamantes as a ‘modern Virgil’ leading us into an ‘inferno unknown to many’ as a way of encapsulating the ambition of the images and what they aspire to represent. Gual's Spanish texts were translated into English by Rosa Radjune. There were 55 copies of the portfolio produced of which this is number 55. The prints are housed in board covers. The front cover carries the title and the artist's name fashioned 'F 2 Amantes' (2 = Dos, creating surname Dosamantes) and an image of a skeletal man on the ground being attacked by ravens and a towering city in the background.

The fly leaf carries a handwritten dedication from Dosamantes to ‘Evelyn’ dated March 10, 1964. Presumably this is Ms H. Evelyn Meeks who gave this portfolio to The Met in 1996.
