George A. Schastey assisted fellow designer August Fiedler in completing work for the home of Edward C. Hegeler, a zinc miner and publisher. When Hegeler undertook renovations of his mansion in about 1880, Schastey’s firm proposed a series of designs for window and mantel treatments. As the inscription indicates, this designs was intended for the bedchamber of Mr. Hegeler. The various drawings included in this exhibition are the only such by Schastey’s firm known to survive.
