Engraving, part of a series of ornament designs in the shape of the Cross of Lorraine, created by Étienne Delaune in Strasbourg in 1573. Two of the designs consist of representations of a god surrounded by scrolling motifs, and the rest are made up of grotesque motifs surrounded by foliage, all of them executed on black grounds. This design is made up of a winged term, with the head of a male and female torso, its hands extended to the sides, holding branches of ivy (symbols of glory), and its lower body made up of interlacing spirals. Above the term are two winged horses, their bodies ending in scrolls, separated by a hanging fish; under it, are two war trophies made up of arms and shields, wbove which are two scrolling motifs with lion heads.
