Box in book form with drawer, Album

On View Gallery Watson Library

Boxes imitating photograph albums were popular in the 19th and early 20th centuries. While many were specifically made to house photographs, they were also used to store other treasures.

This wooden box, made to resemble a leather-bound photograph album, has characteristics common to albums of the period including a landscape format, beveled edges, Gothic lettering, and a foredge clasp that serves as the book’s drawer pull.
