A longitudinal and cross-sectional morphological examination of a wool weft fiber reveals some of its visible medulla, smaller than that of sheep’s wool, and a diameter that indicates it is probably alpaca fiber. The medium-soft quality of these fibers made them suitable for the design of this tapestry, allowing multiple nonhorizontal weft orientations in which weft threads could adjust to the curves of the weaving.
