マムルーク朝の首長は、宮廷での儀式的な役割に関連する紋章を、建造物や工芸品の装飾に頻繁に採用しました。このランプでは、赤い盾を背景として交差した金色の弓の紋章から、所有者がマムルーク宮廷で弓矢の番人を務めた高官だったことが分かります。銘には、カイロで1285年に亡くなったアイダキン・アル=アラーイ・アル=ブンドゥクダールの霊廟に供えるために作られたと書かれています。
