Not on view

Published by Christian Egenolff, German, 1502-1555, Frankfort am Mayn.
Illustrated title page, 26 pages of designs including 4 pages of animals and fish at the end.
According to Lotz loc.cit. this book is made up of three Egenolff books. The title leaves 5 - 7 (sig. B i-iii) and the last two leaves belong together. Most of the patterns in sigs. a and c he thinks are from a still unknown edition of Egenolff's "Modelbuch welscher, ober.un niderlandicher Arbait", Lotz 15. One leaf is from Egenolff's later book (Lotz 20). MMA has photostat copy of undated second edition which must be after 1555, the year Egenolff died, since it is published by his heirs (Dick 934). Apparently unique. The title border is discussed in Lotz loc.cit. Biii outside border cut. see pl. 62 - fac. of Lotz 8 sig. in fac. on new marque. 14 leaves, unnumbered. Sigs: a - c 4, (d)2, (verso of title, blank). See notes in book tipped in at back.
