Plate 9 to series of etchings of Cortona's fresco and its stucco framework in the Gallery of Aeneas, Palazzo Pamphili, Rome. Cesi was commissioned to draw and etch the decorations of the Gallery by Prince Camillo Pamphili, who paid him on January 29, 1661.
This plate shows Jupiter at center with Venus to his left, introducing Aeneas at far left. At top center we see scales of Justice. Justice herself appears in plate 8. The two plates can be joined to provide a unified image of the fresco in the central field of the gallery.
