Winter at Paris

Not on view
This satire gently pokes fun at visitors to Paris in the winter of 1806. A couple who are probably British and wear voluminous cloaks and large hats use ungainly gestures to greet a tall thin man standing at left. The refined dress and stance of the latter indicate that he is French—Parisians were renowned for their sense of style in the nineteenth century even as they are today.
