Not on view
The depiction of the Siege of the Citadel of St. Martin on the Île de Ré was commissioned by Louis XIII in 1628. The plates illustrate French victory at the command of Cardinal Richelieu. This plate depicts a naval battle with several lines of French ships near the river. Lower down on the plate, British ships arrive as reinforcement. The west coast of the Île de Ré is shown at the right center of the plate.
