This print is one of eighteen plates illustrating Pierre Lemoyne's poem, Saint Louis ou la Sainte Couronne reconquise. The first edition of the poem dates to 1653. Augustin Courbé's 1658 edition contains illustrations by François Chauveau, which serve as the models for Jean Le Pautre's prints. Mariette dates Le Pautre's prints to 1671.
