As documented in a surviving Tiffany & Co. logbook, George A. Schastey & Co. created at least nine clocks in cooperation with Tiffany & Co. between 1879 and Schastey’s death in 1894. Although Tiffany provided the clock’s internal movement, the dial is inscribed "Geo. A. Schastey & Co," per Schastey’s specifications. The clock’s exaggerated proportions and ornament are in keeping with Schastey’s designs for interior woodwork in the early 1880s. Its large scale and inscribed dial suggest that it may have been intended for Schastey’s showroom
