Page of book containing 185 leaves with a collection of lithographs, aquatints, engravings, and other media, with ornamental designs published by Fleury Chavant in Paris, part of the publication "Guide du Dessinateur de l'industrie: une macédoine de dessins variés , tels que fleurs, ornemens, etc. ... Ouvrage destiné aux fabricants et dessinateurs de soieries... et Papiers Peints..." This plate contains fragments from a design for a shawl, presented at the industrial exposition of 1844, with bundles of exotic flowers, thin branches with small, semi-abstract, exotic flowers, and paisley leaves. Most of the flowers are decorated with thin garlands with small, semi-abstract flowers, and have paisley-shaped petaloids. The design is executed with black ink on thin, light brown paper. The motifs in the design seem to have been inspired on Indian calicoes and were most likely intended for printed textiles or wallpapers, and were possibly manufactured with vivid colors.
