This print is part of a series of at least 29 prints containing monstrous figures after designs by the Dutch artist Arendt van Bolten. They were almost certainly published in Paris, however, by Pierre I Firens who may also have been the engraver for the series. This print contains two groups of grotesque figures, both facing left. the group on the left consists of a large figure with droopy ears playing a horn, on top of which an elegant bird is placed. Behind them, a human figure holding up a flag rides on the back of a dragon-like creature. In the top left corner, a swan-like bird is depicted. Many of the figures in this print series derive from drawings in an album now kept at the British Museum in London. None of the figures in this print feature in any of the surviving drawings, however.
