The print was issued together with Giovanni Battista Nolli's much larger plan of Rome. The original plan on which it is based was made by Leonardo Bufalini as a woodcut and published in 1551, a fact that is recorded in the lower right of this print. The print is folded and kept in a marbled (19th century?) pocket to which is fixed a label that reads 'Pianta di Roma Antica delli Nolli [parioli?] 10.'
